A Classic Shot
From the movies "Jaws' and the inspiration for the name of this blog. In this shot, the director zoomed out the lens and dollyed in the camera. The effect is a bizarre stretching affect that makes everything look heightened, paranoid and scary. I feel exactly this way about 3 times a day. It's also known as the "Vertigo" shot because Hitchcock used the same effect in that movie on the staircase with Jimmy Stewert is freaking out about heights.

I don't know terminology or math but I recall Spike (Mars Blackman) using sort of the reverse effect of this in Mo Better Blues. Early years of the antagonist, practicing his horn, and his old man get's interupted from the Dodger's game etc. Anyhoo, the effect is/was striking.
WHOSE NICK RICKSHAW AND HOW DID HE GET SUCH A COOL NAME?
